Frank E. Page’s Guide to Color and Mood
Did you know that the colors you select for your home actually affect your mood? It is proven that color is one of the most important design elements in creating your own personal style for each room.
Calming Colors:
Green- induces a state of tranquility, paralleling a walk in the woods. It also produces a calming effect allowing for relaxation. A great place for a color such as this would be a den, living room, or bedroom, places of rest and solitude.
Blue- as green does, blue puts the mind at ease. It offers a refreshing relaxation much like the ocean and the sky. Blue would be a great addition to a bathroom.
Brown- known as the home accent color, it reflects a feeling of security and stability. Browns are often used in libraries and home offices.
White- is a symbol of purity and allows for a light and airy feel. White is sure to open up any small space and make it appear larger. White is a popular color among hallways and entry ways.
Adding a Little Excitement:
Red- commands attention as it holds its place at the beginning of the color spectrum! Red's message stirs emotions of excitement and power. For example, red in a kitchen or dining area is proven to induce the appetite.
Purple- serves as a whimsical color and also as the color wheel's most complex color. Purple echoes novelties such as flowers and landscape. It also serves as a fun and expressive color, often used in places like bedrooms.
