A Light Choice

Did you know that lighting makes the biggest impact in a room? You can transform a room by adding the correct light.

Types of Lighting to Meet Your Needs:

Task lighting (a more concentrated light for work areas)

  • Undercabinet lights
  • Pendant lights
  • Recessed lighting

Ambient Lighting (general lighting):

  • Sconces
  • Ceiling chandeliers
  • Table Lamps
  • Recessed Lighting

Importance of the Bulb You Purchase:

Incandescent bulbs are quickly fading out and being replaced with the instantaneous, compact, energy saving, fluorescent light bulbs. Please take note that these bulbs come in a variety of hues to set the mood for your rooms. The warm bulb casts a yellow hueto the room, making it inviting and relaxing. The cool bulb casts a blue hue.  It is closer to natural outside light and is brighter than the warm bulb. I have found that the cool bulbs work well in basements and closets. Experiment with the different choices available. Utilizing these bulbs in your home can make a world of difference not only in setting the atmosphere of your room but also in savings.

Lighting control is an important but, often over-looked aspect of design. With the proper hardware, such as dimmer switches, a homeowner can change the mood or utility of a room simply by raising orlowering the light levels.
